Why and how to recognize the currency as a common?

Lecture by Jean-Michel Servet, Honorary Professor at the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies (IHEID) in Geneva. (Switzerland)

Abstract:
The interdependence of human activities subject to market relations makes money indispensable today. The question of money as a common currency arises not only at local levels (as complementary currencies can illustrate) but also at national or federal levels.
The link between currency and common is therefore not only that of ecologically sustainable development but also of socially sustainable development. It poses that of the democratic control of monetary creation and management.
