Finance and Collapses : Finance: arsonist of collapses?

Conference by Denis Dupré, member of the STEEP team. After graduating as an engineer from the École des Mines and working in various banking organizations, Denis Dupré has been a lecturer-researcher in finance, ethics and territorial ecology for over 20 years at the University of Grenoble-Alpes and ENSIMAG (Institut National Polytechnique de Grenoble). He is the author of numerous articles and books in finance, financial economics, ethics and ecology and offers a better understanding of the social, ecological and political stakes of our actions on his website "Crises and ethics of action".

Abstract: Finance: arsonist of collapses? (Part I): In what way does modern finance have a share of responsibility in ecological and societal collapse? In this lecture, we will detail the technical functioning of financial products (debt, currency, derivatives, trackers etc.) and institutions (Shadow banking, Dark pool, Off-shore and Tax haven etc.). We will underline their impacts on human societies and on the ecological environment.
